Say you make a second variant of several images in the folder. Go to any 2nd variant (it doesn't matter which one). Right click it and choose "select by same variant position". That will select all the 2nd variants in the folder. You'd have to be disciplined about say always using the 2nd variant for your black and white versions, or the 3rd variant for your square crops, etc. But I think it may help in what you want to do.

Edited to add: if you want to select every extra variant whether there are two or more of some images, you could right click the main variant of any image, use "select by same variant position" and you would get all the main variants. If you then choose invert selection on the Edit menu, you would select all the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc variants, but none of the main ones.

You can use the "select by same variant" technique on the first variant (the original) and then invert your selection.

    Cheers,
    Peter.
