Can Laser light damage the sensor?
Hi Phase One
I'm interested in using a Class 2 laser in some creative still life work but am worried the laser light could damage the sensor.
Although I wouldn't want to use the laser pointing directly at the camera the subject matter does have highly polished surfaces.
Please can you advise?
Back in use would be either H25 or P30+
Regards
Saul

I don't know but suspect that brief exposure to scattered low power lasers could be fine.
Certainly something that I wouldn't play with in long static exposures.0 -

Does the information here help?
(Google is terribly useful!)

Hi Ian
Perfect thanks 😊
Just what I wanted to Know: Avoid beams which are coming straight into your lens (or bounced off a mirror or other reflective surface and then into your lens). The damage potential is much greater when the entire beam power enters the camera lens.0 -
Don't know about Phase One backs, but the usual sensors are sensitive to laser beams. There are a lot of videos like this one:

According to the laser class definitions here: myprepaidbalance
That's gonna be a bad idea to use a class 2 laser because it actually can damage your sensors. 😂
