How to erase an object for levitation portrait

Hi everyone,

I have some problems about how to erase a part of the image using Capture One Pro 8. I would like to create a levitation photo, as in this tutorial. Here is the link: http://petapixel.com/2015/02/10/levitat ... -tutorial/
The idea is to use two pictures, then erase a part of a picture (please watch the tutorial video for details). The point is I can overlay the layer, but I cannot delete or erase an object on the original photo. Can anyone please help me about this, because I do not have Photoshop software in my computer.

  This is not really the kind of thing that Capture One is designed to do. You can remove small objects using clone and heal layers, but you would not be likely to succeed with larger objects like the stool and the arm in the photo on the tutorial. You certainly can't erase or mask part of a layer as you can with Photoshop or similar programs. It's just not what Capture One is for.
  
  There are cheaper alternatives to Photoshop that you could try. I'm not sure whether you have a Mac or a PC. If a Mac, you might try the new Affinity Photo. As you can see, its inexpensive, and you can download a free trial. Or for both Mac and PC there is Photoshop Elements, which is comparatively inexpensive or GIMP which is open-source and free.

  As a workaround there is a free tool called http://www.gimp.org/downloads/.
  That does that job nicely as well. So if need only simple jobs like that, using GIMP makes more sense.
