Trouble tethering 4x5 camera to P-30
I just wanted a digital medium format back to try on 4x5 cameras (amateur), but wound up getting a Hasselblad H2d with three lenses and P-30 back. No problem using it with PhotoShop or free Hasselblad Phocus software--as a camera system. It may take a while before I can adequately explore the Hasselblad possibilities before getting much into the 4x5 with P-30, but I would still like to make use of all the 4x5 lenses if I can, as they all have their own personalities (different of course with digital?)
I tried the P-30 on a Speed Graphic and it does (with fumbling) work. I did just use PhotoShop for editing. But when I try to use the 4x5 setup tethered to a computer, I think this requires Capture One software, so I installed the free version that is offered for 4x5 use. It implies that the computer program (when opened) will recognize the camera connected by Firewire, but I always get "No camera attached." There is a line offering "Add camera," but nothing seems to happen with that.
Does the free software not include tethering? There could be many problems (I just installed a Firewire port for the computer, which could be wrong, though the computer recognizes the driver for it; or the wire could be defective, as it is old but came with the camera). Maybe I must do something in the software for the 4x5 use.
All the online sites and YouTubes seem to be about tethering various modern cameras (not P-30 backs as cameras), and most of the Phase One sites seem to be selling the full CaptureOne package.
PS--cheap amateur that I am I bought the single release shutter cable. You have to trip it twice (cocking it again) to expose, introducing shake. But a self cocking shutter can just be tripped twice, which is much better. Before I toss in another $200 for the twin cable I want to see if the tether aspect can even be used.

I would suggest that you address this directly to Phase via a Support Case.
This being, primarily, a User to User forum there is a good chance you will get responses that are opinions but maybe nothing form anyone who may have full experience of the particular combination you are using.
However I suspect that the basis if your problem is that the camera body is not supported for tethering in Capture One.0 -

But when you say the camera may not support tethering--do you mean the P30 (the camera) or the view camera to which it is attached? Surely all view cameras are the same in that respect, unless the Phase One software only supports tethering if you buy the more advanced Capture One (not the free version), in which case tethering would not be provided for. I believe when I selected the free version it said something about providing for view camera use only (and post processing in general). And in fact I can use the P30 on the view camera--just can't seem to tether to the computer. It is my understanding that the Flexadapters or comparable connectors between P30 and view camera are optional--I just bought the plate that allows connection (and it works fine so far as it goes for taking a picture is concerned).0 -

You should see a menu along the top of the capture One screen, One option is Help.
Open that drop down and one option, assuming you are not using a really old version of the software, should be "Contact Support". Or Capture One Support.
Click on that hand it should open a Window in your browser. Scroll to the bottom of that window for the option to contact Technical Support.
