Noob-Difference between Background Layer

    I think you're mistaking global adjustments (in the exposure tab, apply to the whole picture) and local adjustments (in the local adjustements tab, apply to the specific layer you define using the brush etc.).

    yes, exactly,any difference between global adjustments and background layer.,they seem to do the same thing unless you add a layer..

    Adjustment on 'Exposure' tab/panel to 'brightness' +2 is the same as adjustment on Adjustment tab if background layer is selected and then 'brightness' +2 is made.

    I will select background layer and use the same tools on the Adjustment tab to make global changes... I do this rather than hop over to Exposure tab.

    Maybe I am missing something, but the tools work for me the same way you perceive.

    + on any layer you create, the tools with the little paint brush or feather (designating they will work on adjustment layer only) must be used. but even after you create a layer, the background layer and the way it works with the tools on the Adjustment tab will function the same... I like it.
