Live view and remote triggering
I'm trying to make some self-portraits using a Nikon D750 and Capture One 10. To take advantage of the face-recognition autofocus I'm using live view mode. But in that mode I can't trigger the camera with a wired or wireless remote or indeed the camera shutter.
Is this a bug or the expected behaviour?

David,
Not sure about Nikon but Canons tend not to trigger is AF is engaged but fails to focus.
In self-portrait use I seem to recall this happening when the lens to subject distance was marginally less than the minimum focus distance for the lens. A couple of inches could make all the difference ... which was very confusing at the time since sometimes things worked and sometimes they didn't.
No idea if this is the case for you but it might be worth investigating.
The other factor, of course, is having enough light for the system to find something to focus on.
This was nothing to do with C1 - I was not shooting tethered when I saw this behaviour.
You may have something entirely different different going on.

Hi Grant
I was comfortably out of the minimum focus range, sat in plenty light and the Nikon can be set to take out of focus pictures if required.
No it simply will not be persuaded to fire in any focus mode by any trigger when Capture One is in Live View.

OK.
Is it possible a "Mode" setting? Maybe something you don't usually use and are not actively looking for?
I had this situation a few weeks ago with a Canon 600D.
I have one myself but almost always only use it with manual lenses.
My Son-in-Law asked me to use his and I found that nothing seems to work. Not wanting to interfere with his camera, given that he had presumably set it up to suit his needs, I let him sort it out rather then just change to my normal settings. It seems he had set what I regraded as an unusual mode combination to suit jpg production and the overrides I was attempting were incomplete in some way.
As I almost never set out to capture only jpgs I had not seen the combination of values before. Puzzled me for a while and the shooting situation did not allow for extended investigation and the associated learning curve!
