Tethering over WiFi for Sony is not supported. You can, of course, use a wireless connection as long as the computer and Capture One does not know it is something else than a USB connection. There are several solutions to this.

Okay! So what are other solutions?

    CamRanger or CamFi.

Capture One is not seeing my Sony A7R IV with TetherTools Air Direct. Anyone else having a similar issues or know of a solution?

    I am working with...

    - MacBook Pro (13 inc, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
    OS X v 10.15.2 (Catalina)

    - Sony A7R IV | FW v 1.0

    - Tether Tools Air-Direct. (Tried USB-C to USB- C cable, and USB-C to USB 2.0 Micro-B 5-Pin cable.)

The Air Direct Unit successfully connects to the ADU utility on the Mac, but camera info does not show up in Capture One. When I navigate to Camera > Network Camera Manager > Add Camera, There is a field for an IP address, but I am not sure what IP address to enter for the camera, that info is blank in on the camera ... "Wi-Fi Settings > Display Wi-Fi Info". The only thing showing is the MAC address. If I enter that address (without the colons) Capture One accepts the entry, but still doesn't work. That leads me to believe there might be an IP address I am unaware of.

    Help appreciated!

What ver of C1? Does it tether without the air direct thing?

Ignore Network Camera Manger -- irrelevant.

All this unit does is create USB over IP. So it should work.

It really sucks that tech support didn't bother to tell me this before I bought the Air Direct. It took me several days to finally shake an answer out of them. The blatantly lied to me. What a waste of time and brand credibility!

Just for the record, I said that WiFi tethering is not supported for WiFi, but if the wireless solution is USB end-to-end, it should work. I do not know the details of TetherTools Air Direct, but this option should work also.

To ask the obvious: when you connect your A7R IV with a regular USB cable (the one that came with the camera for example), was tethering successful? Only when you have established a connection in a conventional way, you can step up your game with a wireless connection.

I looked at the product page of Air Direct, Compatibility page and it is PTP based and compatible with Capture One.

I think you might want to check your camera configuration first and try with a regular cable first. Note that the proper USB setting in the camera for tethering is different from the A7 III and A7R III.

Capture works with USB-C/USB-C or Sony's standard USB to USB-C cable that was shipped with the camera body. I realize Live View will not work with PTP. The camera config seems to be correct. I've tested every setting I can think of. Tether Tools techs seem to believe its an issue with OSX Catalina.

It's your Capture One setup -- not the fault of Tether Tools
