Intervalometer/Timer, BULB exposures capability
Hi!
I am using Capture One Pro for Sony with my Sony A7S.
I *really* need the ability to do the following:
The use case for this is Time Lapse as well as Astrophotography. I do a lot of both.
I need this capability primarily on Windows.
Thanks!

I *really* need the ability to do the following:
* Set a number of captures to be automatically triggered by Capture One
* The ability for exposure time to be controlled by Capture One, e.g. bulb mode on camera, Capture One fires a 45 second exposure by "holding down" the trigger to the camera for that duration
* The ability for the two above to work together
The use case for this is Time Lapse as well as Astrophotography. I do a lot of both.

Great idea, suggest to post it to improvements thread here in forum. And also raise ticket to C1 know that you are interested. 0 -
This sort of requirement would normally be covered by some sort of plug in device or, more recently, by smartphone apps and Wi-Fi connectivity.
What would be the benefit of attempting this through a tethered application - assuming the camera manufacturer agrees to make the functionality available in their SDK or by allowing third party developers access to functionality to develop their own code?

Remote control of the camera is one major use case. For example. I set my equipment up in my back yard. This capability would allow me to control the whole set up remotely. With an external intervalometer/timer/trigger I have to be "near" the camera to operate it.
I believe Canon and Nikon already have software from 3rd parties that can do this. Sony RCC can act in bulb mode, but only if you press and hold the shutter button yourself. It also doesn't have live view.
Smarphones & wifi are a non starter in my opinion. Smartphones/pads, etc don't have the battery life for long sessions. I'd rather just plug the laptop in and let it go.0 -
I would guess the lack of facilities in the Sony applications might suggest that Phase would be equally constrained should they wish to get into the intervalometer market.
Phone/Tab battery life is hardly an issue when you can make use of some very high capacity powerbanks these days. Or, presumably, connect to the mains supply which I would assume you would have to do with a laptop anyway for a long session.
Still, if you want to make a feature suggestion the approved way is to create a Support Case and indicate in the title for the Case that it is am Enhancement Request: . Phase can then add it to their managed list of ideas for the future.
HTH.

Actually, the Sony RCC application CAN do this. Sort of. If you hold the capture button down while in bulb mode, it will keep the shutter open as long as you're holding the mouse button down. In fact, someone wrote a hack application that does precisely that. However, it's not scriptable or anything.
Capture One can do live view. Why the Sony app can't makes little sense to me.
Thanks for the direction. I'll take that path as well.0
