Colour Editor Tool Tab not working
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with the Colour Editor tool since upgrading to CO20?
My software won't recognise Direct colour editor tool and also I cannot select colours in the circle for advanced and skin tone tabs. It just doesn’t register any colours I select at all after selecting the colour picker……
I’m running Catalina on late 2014 iMac. Though I also set up on my Macbook Pro and it does the same thing.
I upgraded through Capture One itself in updates.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark.

So you select the color picker in the Color Editor tool. You are aware that each of the three Color Editor tools have their own color picker.
Assume you use the Basic Editor. You pick a color in your image. Is the appropriate color range selected?
Assume you use the Advanced Editor and the accompanying picker. You pick a color in your image. I a color sample created in the color wheel?0 -
Okay I have figured out the issue. The problem only happens with updated catalogues and sessions which were previously created in CO12 and upgraded into CO20.
When I create new sessions and catalogues with CO20 and import images it works fine.
Hopefully this helps others.0 -

Mark,
For some of the tools, notable the revised Basic Colour Editor - not sure about the others in detail - the older edits are likely using the V12 (or earlier for some people) processing engine. Look as the Base Characteristics tool to find out.
Therefore the processing engine for V12 will not understand the instructions from the V20 routine for that tool.
Other tools, HDR for example, still seem to work since the basic sliders used in V12 still exist although I think they may give slightly different adjustment value ranges.
There are 2 parts a a version upgrade.
The Catalogue or session update for the "image database" management files and the processing engines for the individual images. Or in fact VARIANTS of images.
Catalogue and session files need to be updated (an unchanged copy will be saved automatically.) Changing the image processing engines is optional expect, possible, for keeping some very old versions or image edits compatible or if one wants to use some of the new features.
To see the differences select a V12 edited image. Clone it to create a new variant.
Edit the new variant using Base Characteristics to change the selected processing engine option. Not you can see both version next to each other in the viewer and assess whether the processing engine change actually makes any evident changes to your previous edit.
HTH.
