Filling in missing metadata
I have a thousand images that need Category populating. If I filter to Category is blank, select the images for CatA, then type in the Category name then the image disappears before I can copy it to the remainder. Which is fair enough.
One solution is to select the photos for Cat A;drag them to an album; add the metadata there, copy it to all images then remove them from the album.
Is there a less awkward way to achieve this?

David,
Once you have one image populated you can see the Category field up as a Filter (you may need to add it to the list of filters if not already present).
Then CTRL-A the rest and drag over to the displayed filter in the filter tool.
That should do it if I have understood your need correctly.

Glad you like it David.
I find it to be a handy option.
If the entries for a field are regularly used and rarely change, like copyright for example, then a preset (or maybe a style of presets) could be deployed with similar effectiveness.
Sometimes having the Filter tool floating when in use can be an advantage. It may allow you to reduce the dragging distance for example. Handy if you have batches of images that require the entries but that appear scattered through the shoot. No need to pre-group them.
