Remove unnecessary originals from a catalogue
Hi,
I'm also coming from Aperture and had a managed database in Aperture. I had a structure "Years", then 2014, 2015 and so on, below the years the projects, e.g. holiday USA.
When a new year begun and every project was finished I usually moved the originals to an external harddrive by choosing the command "new location for originals" (I only have the german version).
Advantage: I could show my pictures, saved space on my internal disk.
If I import pictures in the C1 catalogue, I can't find any possibility like that to save space on my hard drive, except choosing to locate the originals at a certain location.
Any other way?
Regards, Frank

Hi Frank,
I summarise to check I understand you correctly. In CO8 you have your images managed, not referenced. In other words, the images are stored inside the catalog folder (shown as a file in Finder). Next, after a year, you like to move the images to an external disk, that is make them referenced.
You can do that by adding the folder of the external disk to the catalog first, next, moving images (drag-and-drop) to the new location from CO8.
Did I get your message correct?0
