SSD External?
I have this computer setup:
iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1 GB
And I've read and seen that many photographers and videographers use an external SSD drive to edit off of. I'm curious how that works with Capture One Pro 20, and if it actually makes things smoother and faster.
Everything works quite well, but I have a 1/4 to 1/2 lag when, let's say, changing a slider. Or if I have many layers and am drawing on a mask, etc.
Thus, trying to see if anyone here has used or is using a setup like this.
One day, hopefully soon, I'll get a brand new computer. 😊
Thanks in advance!

Session or Catalog? If Catalog, is it on the external drive or internal with raws external?
The connection to your computer is probably USB 2?
Sessions are very disk intensive and a slower external disk can add some lag.0 -
I have the system (OSX) on one SSD, the user folder (and C1 catalog) on a second SSD, and the images on a third SSD. It works nicely, but it still lags when scrolling through images. This is on a 2011 Mac Pro, so I'm guessing the lag is due to CPU utilization. With a faster system you should see a large benefit from multiple SSDs (subject to the database limitations, of course).

Your iMac is a 2013, so it has both (at least) USB 3 and Thunderbolt (DisplayPort).
Connecting an SSD in USB (up to 5Gbs) or Thunderbolt (up to 10Gbs) would definitely speed up the system (depends also on what SSD you bought - some are cheap, but very slow (for SSDs))
Be careful also that, if you are using an external USB hub, it should also be USB 3 or 3.1 compatible, otherwise you'll obviously lose the benefits of your onboard USB 3.0
