Using Mac and Win on the same Catalogue
I am pretty sure that I have seen on a Webinar or a tutorial that I should be able to use the same COP catalogue on both Win and Mac OS's without problem.
That is not my experience.
I use both a PC (Win 7, 64) and a Mac (El Capitan) on the same Catalogue and am having problems.
The problem is that when I switch to the alternate machine the files are shown as Off-line and I have to "Locate" them. This is a pain.
The Catalogue only contains referenced files and these are saved on a Synology NAS. I have tried the Catalogues in various places:
* On the Synology with both macines accessing the same catalogue
* On a Drive attached to the Synology with nothing else on that drive
* On each machines own hard drive (both SSD's) using Synology sync programs and leaving enough time for those to properly synchronise.
In each case I get some files in the catalogue which are "Off-line" and have to be "Located"
I will add that I do not try to use both machines at the same time. The catalogues are always closed before opening them on the other machine.
Than you for any help offered.
Robert

Hey Robert,
I'm using the same Catalog on OSX and Windows.
It is not difficult to realize but you have to make some entries in the database itself
Its work perfect for me but I believe its not a supported way.0 -
Unfortunately I experienced same thing with catalog.
C1 looks like has poor support of same catalog in which files are stored outside catalog as linking to files is not same for mac and pc.
Only workaround is locate files.0 -
Just for the record I have found a way around this.
On Mac open Finder and click through to the top directory where the pictures are stored, after a little while the files will be located.
It's the same on Win except you use Explorer rather than Finder.
Regards
