Storing XMP inside DNG files
Is there a chance Capture One will write metadata information to DNG files? If it did (like most other software - Photo Mechanic, Lightroom, IMatch) I could do image culling in Capture One and generally integrate it better into my workflow. As it is now, the XMP files created by Capture One as sidecar files for DNG are ignored by all the other software I use...

As a principle, we never write anything to the raw-file. Using the xml as sidecars should be supported by most software, perhaps by a preference, if not enabled by default.
Capture One's default in this regard is to always read sidecar xml, but never write. The behavior can of course can be modified.0 -
From what I can read the DNG file is a TIFF based raw file and - like JPGs, TIFFs - it is supposed to have all XMP metadata inside and not in a seperate file.
Would you consider adding "edit/write XMP within DNG" as an option in preferences (as it is now for TIFF and JPG files)?0 -
I can't comment on future product development, but you are most welcome to file a feature request with our Support team. 0 -
Thanks, that's what I did. 0
