It's worth searching the forum for threads about NAS. I don't use it myself, but it would appear that some users have had difficulties, so it's worth reading about that.

I have had a NAS setup in the past (internal network only), I used to store the originals on the NAS, catalog on local machine (Notebook, at that time). Using Capture One v8 I have had enough issues to abandon this approach. I did not open the NAS to the internet as you'd like to do.

However, if you have the need to access your older projects for unexpected client requests, then why not trying to do so. Anyways, a NAS as a backup media (but it should not be the only one) makes sense, so why not just give it a try, even if you'd be ending up - in the worst case- using the NAS for backup.

If all goes well you still would have to deal with slow intenet network performance or weird network routes if you happen to open big catalogs or sessions, as C1 (at least v8) tried to acccess each original raw file when starting up. I have my doubts that you'll succeed to your satisfaction, but that's more of a gut feeling.

If you have no experience try to get some support from a friend, especially when opening your internal network to the outside.

    Cheers
