You must host the picture somewhere online. Then past a link with "IMG" around it to be referenced as an image not a link.

I am not going to do that.
I do not use on line services.
It was a simple screen shot, unbelievable.
    I am Too old.

I just got this software and find it frustrating more each day I use it.
    It is not user friendly.

    It's a strange thing Greg.

I came to C1 from another application that, generally, works in a very similar way - a way that I liked and felt comfortable with. Despite that I still found myself discovering things that were useful months down the road.

The main "Industry Leading" products just don't seem to gel with me whereas C1, with very little external input, became quite comfortable after a few hours of use. I think it helped that I was already working with a system that did things in a similar way and did not force me to use catalogues.

Many Forums are happy to have links to images (or whatever, including screen shots) but not prepared to host them themselves for a number of reasons. Or if they do support hosting they restrict the size of files as a practical consideration for storage and communication overhead from the data traffic. Restricted file sizes are fine for social media (well, maybe) but not great for people that might be found on this sort of forum and who might wish to share some quite large files from time to time.

Realistically using a good file sharing site is very little different to sharing an image in a hosted forum. That said I can sympathize with your reluctance to do so - I often feel the same way myself. Sometimes I think that even my kids are beginning to think the same way!

Capture One is great software but I get the impression that you have not yet found the key that unlocks its easy of use. You may be looking in the wrong place - I have often done that. Alternatively (something else I am often guilty of) assuming that things are more complicated than in fact they are. I've done that too.

It might be time to forget what you have discovered so far (or think you have discovered) and start afresh - no pre-conceptions - back to the start of the on-line help/tutorial and simply take things step by step to see if that uncovers a different path to the key.

    Grant:

    Thanks for the kind words:
I am a fast learner BUT this program and site is driving be crazy

Even simple things like being notified when someone replies to my post.
I have the box checked off but I get no replies.
I know my e-mail is good as I have gotten a news update.
    Also #2:
When I click on "Locate" the window that opens to my Drop Box that I only use for business files.
I have no idea why, there is no image anywhere in the drop box that is highlighted or in the other files.

I am going to trash the 6 sample pictures and download them from the reader again and start all over.

I desperately want to use this, I have already purchased it so I may just have to write it off as a bad investment.

I can't comment on forum post notification - as I recall I have never used it but have ticked the box here so will see what happens. (I don't find the volume of posts so great that keeping track of interesting subjects becomes challenging on a daily basis so it doesn't worry me whether the notifications work or not.)

The "Locate" option is not something I use much - I don't recall the last time I did. So I'm working a little blind here but my guess would be that it will seek out the Windows or MAC stored value for the last folder accessed via an operating system activity. That would be standard functionality I think, the basis being that it might be a candidate location since it is the "last used" place and you may have been reorganising files via the OS rather than an application. Moreover there is nothing else to suggest so you either have to know where you want to look (or run a search to find out where the files are so that you know in advance) OR you use the window provided to go browsing the folder and file structures.

Is there a chance that your last Operating System level folder access activity with to do something with a business file?

The OS level guidelines same vaguely logical - but I am not sure they always work advantageously for any application.

There is no need to trash the original files. C1 is non-destructive and will not make changes to them, it will just create edit instruction files that site along side them (not necessarily literally alongside!) . However if you choose to do so that is not a problem.

Indeed it may be good idea.

Stand back, forget what you think you know and start again keeping things as simple as possible - they can be very simple indeed - and build up form there.

In my opinion the effort is well worth it. However the way things are done may be quite different to what you are currently used to and with which you are comfortable. Set that to one side and learn the basics of C1 as they are intended to be used (which is flexible but don't seek out too much flexibility to start with). Once you 'get' a feel for that things should become easier. A little further in you should start to be able to make connections between the C1 approach options and what you are used to doing. It may be that making some changes to your working practices is the first big benefit you can obtain though you may not recognise it as such and probably feel uncomfortable even considering the idea. Things should start to make sense after a short time.

    HTH.

Greg, in case you or anyone else who stumbles across this post is looking for an "easy" way to host screenshots, Dropbox automatically (for Mac anyway) saves all screenshots to a Screenshots folder (after you take them with Cmd+Shift+4). Now, unfortunately the link that automatically gets copied to your clipboard won't work straight away... files need to be moved inside your Public folder. I have a sub-folder called 'Forum-Image', from here, right-click the file and select Copy public link...

The newly copied links should look like this:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/136 ... -26-34.png

Paste this between the tags in your forum post for:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1369892/Forum-Images/Screenshot%202015-04-29_09-26-34.png

    Regards,
    Adam

ps. I have been using C1 for almost a month and find the webinars here invaluable:
