Un-found chunks of old catalog
Are preventing completion of v.20. Even after following instructions for name change. I know this problem is not a C1 fault. But I'm hoping someone will tell me how to search, find, and destroy these bits and pieces.
Any/all help/suggestions are more than welcome. The platform is Mac.
TIA
Stephen

I wish I could understand your post so I could help. I really have no clue. 0 -
Hey Paul.. sorry..
I deleted, not uninstalled, an older version of Capture One. Evidently that was my mistake. I intended to load a intro copy of v.20. However the loading and start-up did not go well. The first fault message said there were two files that were preventing v.20 from loading and they were being renamed. The following fault message said: "Could not move aside previous session document. Exiting"
I really want C1 on this computer.. I'm thinking of perhaps going into my backup files and replacing C1. or installing the complete computer from last week. Then re-evaluating the situation.0 -
Here's the original message.
A file named /Users/stephensyrotiak1/Pictures/Capture One Catalog.cocatalog already exists but cannot be read. The file will be renamed to "/Users/stephensyrotiak1/Pictures/Capture One Catalog/Previous Capture One.cocatalog" and a new session created in its place.
The following fault message said: "Could not move aside previous session document. Exiting"
And that's where we stand..
Going back into backups didn't work...0 -

A little bit becomes clearer to me.
There are two possibilities
1) The file /Pictures/Capture One Catalog.cocatalog exists but is locked or something. Check this by opening Terminal and executing ls -al ~/Pictures | grep cocatalog If that doesn't report a file: Capture One Catalog.cocatalog then there is really nothing there, not even a hidden file fragment. Also check for something like Capture One Catalog.cocatalog.lockfile If present these should be removed. If not possible to remove with Finder, came back for more help.
2) If the test of 1) fails, then there is a configuration file which is telling Capture One that the file exists. But since it doesn't exist, it can't be read, or upgraded or moved. So the silly thing quits.
So I would start by Navigating to /Users/stephensyrotiak1/Library/Preferences Using Finder, you must click on the "Go" item in the top menu, then while the "Go" menu is open, click on the option key. This will reveal the Library item. Click on that and you are into your Library. Here, remove all the files related to Capture One. There is probably only one or two, with names like
com.phaseone.captureone12.plist.
Then move to Library/Application Support and remove any Capture One related files.
When you are done this reboot the Mac.0 -
Thank you Eric!! Your suggestions were spot-on. 0
