Merging sessions

As you probably now, a session is a folder-based way of organising your images. Therefore there are several ways to achieve what you are after.

On the tethering computer you can add the extra images to either:
    a) a separate folder in the same session and only copy that folder to the session on your edit computer
    b) create a new session and copy the capture folder that contains the images to the session on your edit computer; note that renaming the folder might be necessary

Many thanks Paul. How do you create a separate folder in an existing session?

    Thank you,

    Good question, Dayve,

The answer is simple, just a need to know.

In the Library tool, where you see your session, look for Session Favorites section. It is perhaps empty. Click on the '+' sign. In the Explorer-like window, either create a new folder and select it, or browse to an existing folder and select it.

It is a good habit to use/create extra folders inside your session main folder, because when you move your folder, it will move along.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for that. I assume that if I just copy the new folder to my edit pc it will bring along any edits to the images within that folder?

    Cheers,

Your question has been answered, but these things below are some related. You may already know these things, but since you asked if edits would all be moved along with the folder:

Your edits are moved with the images because the edits are in sub-folders within the folder that holds your images... These sub-folders are typically hidden from view unless you 'show hidden folders' in Windows (Mac = ?). It is fine to leave these folders hidden and forget about them. When you move the folder with images, all goes at once. Great.

If you do not want to move entire folders but want to move one or more images alone, then edits can be left behind.

If I use my OS (for me, Windows) file browser to select and move image IMGP8782 all of my edits created by C1 will be left behind. The OS file browser doesn't know there are associated files made by C1 in hidden folders... Going back and trying to reunite these things can be a long process.

I will move whole folders using the OS file browser, but for individual images, the best thing to do is to perform file management using the file browser within C1. This is the file browser Paul mentions. It knows about the edits and moves them when you drag/drop images. It just the same as sending an image from 'capture' to 'selects'; all edits move.

One other note for deleting files. If I delete images using the OS file browser, the edits made by C1 remain.. If I delete images from within C1 itself, all edits are deleted along with my image.
