Best idea would be to create a Support Case using the "Submit Request" option seem on many of the support pages.

Phase need to get a lens in to the lab to do their full analysis and as you say it may be similar enough that it is not considered worthwhile or there has been little or no user driven demand through the Case system.

Your suggestion for a renamed version of the Mk2 profile might be quite appropriate. They may be able to check that using a few sample files if the results should be similar.

Do you just see "Generic" as the default option?

    Thank you for the suggestions.

Yes, the pictures made with that lens open with "generic" listed in the lens profile list.

As I understand it, the difference between the version II and version III lens is a single new feature, which is a special coating on the objective lens.

    Thank you.

I had a look at some Mk2 files that I happen to have loaded at the moment.

At 200mm the optical correction applied by the dedicated profile seems to be about the same as +1 generic pincushion.

Most of the time I use it with a 2x multiplier. At 140mm (70mm +2x) a quick comparison seems to suggest not obvious optical correction at all.

Both examples we from an APS-H sensor so not full frame but what correction I did see without the multiplier was at the centre of the image anyway.

It would be interesting to know if you get the same impression about the adjustments.

    Hi,
I usually use a 5DSR "full frame" for portrait and landscapes. In these instances the distortion correction I observe with other software that references this lens is greatest at the edges, beyond the area that might be of concern with a APS-C sensor size camera. Similarly there is enough of a vignette effect with the full frame sensor that the corrections make a visible difference. The vignette adjustment may or may not be desirable, but it is nice to have easy access to the option.

I submitted a support request as you have suggested.

    OK, thanks. Interesting.

The APS-H sensor is a little closer to full frame so might start to show up the edge problems but it was a very quick look on my part and really only looking for distortion differences that were quite evident.

You best immediate option might be to save a preset or several (maybe focal length dependent) then group new imports using select and sort and apply the preset to all similar files in a batch.

Could be done at import or in Post processing - whichever is most convenient.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Hi,
As suggested, I posted a support request about this lens profile.

I received the automated notice that it had arrived but I have not seen any reply to indicate it was considered.

One of the reasons I bought a Capture One Pro license was that my old Adobe Photoshop CS6 no longer had lens profile updates and I wanted a stay current while using perpetual license software, so I am a little surprised to learn that Capture One is not keeping up to date with current lens profiling.

Should I expect a reply or are the feature requests just logged and left?

    Thank you.

For lens requests you may not get another reply.

The number of times a lens profile request is made can help to indicate the level of interest in that lens and so justify the investment of time and effort to obtain a sample of the lens and put it through the laboratory measurement ans assessment process. Some lenses may be more popular than others for C1 users.

Also, of course, there is the potential that user feel that some lenses are good enough without any particular interest in adding correction.

In some cases, where a lens is thought to have performance characteristics the same as a previously tested lens, it may be possible to verify that using some sample files and so adopt the earlier, tested lens correction values to be recognised also for the new lens. In such cases you may get a response asking if you can supply some files.

However, in general the company does not engage in open discussion of future developments of any kind. It is a matter of business principle by which they operate.

At this time of year, immediately after major releases, many third party developer updates to cope with and the traditional end of year holiday season it is unlikely that you would hear much anyway under any of the circumstances mentioned above until the relevant teams responsible for lens assessments had returned to work and caught up with whatever come their way during the traditional vacation period. That, of course, might include considering your request.

Even then, normally one would not expect to hear anything from them for something that can generally be classed as a type of enhancement request.

    HTH.

Need Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM, its unbelieveble that there´s no especific profile for this lens. Amazing.

I forgot about this thread; Capture One didn't capture my attention. I let my license lapse and have not missed it.
