I don't know what happened but I recall someone mentioning this once before. Try searching the forum. Also I wonder whether it has anything to do with selecting the correct licence.

How is your license activated? Maybe your installation of Capture One is not able to reach the activation server via the corporate network, which it needs to see at least once in a month, approximately. 0 -

I have been using Capture One 20 at work for about a month. Now when I open the software I am not able to access the files. On top next to the Help icon there's another icon that says "Privilege Mode"

You mention "at work".
Is the installation on a network that may be running the Enterprise version of Capture One?
Or perhaps the Cultural Heritage version?0 -
@doobs: please check that Capture One can access the activation server. For example, if you run Capture One on a computer that is not connected to a network, or can only access the internal network but not the internet, or internet access is limited by a firewall or filter, the activation times out after 30 days. Your activation needs to be refreshed once a month.

I thought that these days most recent software will contact base almost constantly - if nothing else it will likely want to "check for updates".
With so many people using SaaS and living on-line lives across multiple devices the world at large seems to have accepted the proposition.
