    Hans,

Isn't part of the reason for turning the watermark on (i.e. making it visible) so you can see how it might affect images - especially if preparing a batch of images in a single pass?

I might do that without proofing all of them.

It's no effort at all to make the WM visible or invisible within a recipe and presumably, when doing that, one has already selected the subset or candidate subset that is to be processed with WMs.

I may well be missing something serious here but I really cannot see how activating or deactivating the WM, using what is available now, is a problem.

I'm not keen on being forced to go to the Proof Process (which will almost certainly involve more calculations otherwise there is no point in using it) in order to just "do" WMs.

    What am I missing?

    Hi Grant,

I'm not pointing to a problem here, not even to something that is annoying me.

It's just a thought, and I was curious what other users think. So I asked.

I personally prefer to adjust my images without seeing a watermark and this would be a quick one-click toggle using the new 'Show Recipe Proofing' icon in the toolbar. Which shows me things like jpeg compression artifacts, too.

    Hi Hans,

You might have opened the usual "can of worms" though just by suggesting the idea!

I usually leave the watermark in place but make the opacity 0.

Then turn it on when and if I need it.

There is probably a little processing overhead to the approach but not enough that I have noticed it.

For me that means the action, when required, becomes a "change and check" routine. I find the reminder to check useful.

Thank you, Grant. I've done the same when watermarking from within CO.

And I hope I did not.

    Great minds think alike Hans!

    Or so the saying goes.

I too hope the can stays closed. 😉

    Totally agree!

To all users out there: I'd like to read your opinion.

Now that there is the new 'Recipe Proofing' view, I think it is a good idea to restrict the view-on-all-images watermark to the new 'Recipe Proofing' view. By doing so, it doesn't distract and doesn't hide parts of the image while adjusting the image. And when switching to proofing view, it will show up with just that click. It can be checked on the export result itself. It can be aligned, adjusted and changed while in this view. No more need to switch it on and off in the recipe when going from adjusting to exporting and back.

    What do you think?
