Colour variations
Hi
This is a general question for an issue with all the versions of CO that I've used. It might actually be a camera / flash issue rather than CO but either way I've never managed to sort it.
MBP
Eizo screen - corrected each day
CO 11
Nikon D750 tethered
Elinchrom flash heads
I shoot wine. I can often have a number of bottles from a single winery where the bottle is the same but the label info differs. I shoot the glass and use it as a template onto which each separate label is digitally overlaid. Swapping labels to be shot might take 5 minutes or so between each one allowing time for correct positioning. Apart from minor text changes the labels are the same. Likewise camera, exposure, lighting - nothing changes. So how come the colours of the labels often differ - not by much but enough that I can see a shift? The CO11 colour temperature and tint setting remain constant. My suspicions are the flash heads but why?
Thanks

Resolved - thanks for Nicki at Kayell Australia.
Cheaper Elinchrom flash heads do not have some kind of regulator in the tubes / electronics hence the colour variation. Solution is to buy better heads.

I know this issue very well - and it also happened with flash heads from Elinchrom (and Multiblitz), even though they were not the cheapest in the lineup (Style RX).
That caused me to switch to Profoto monoheads and now it's fairly consistent.
To combat this you can use the "Normalize" tool and pick the label as a basis for your white balance.0 -
Hi C M B
Thanks for the advice. I'll play with the Normalize settings and see how I get on. If all fails I'll change flash and look at all makes except Elinchrom!0 -
Any chance of getting a "report" function to deal with this kind of spam?
