Canon frozen after losing focus.

    Milo,

I sometimes see something I could describe like that when using my 1D3 and a 70-200 Mk2 lens usually fitted with a 2X extender. (And not tethered.)

In certain situations the AF seems to get lost and stops respond at an extreme focus point - usually when making it chase a small moving target on spot focus. I suspect it may have just passed the sensors or some other part of the focus control mechanism.

In my case turning the manual focus ring brings the lens back into a working state. I appreciate that might not be an easy fix if the camera is hanging off a boom!

I may also have seen this with my 70-300 DO lens but as I do not use that extensively these days it's difficult to be sure if my memory is correct. I recall the 70-200 because it happened once for the first time in about a year, during my last recent shoot.

Of course your problem and my observation may not be in any way related.

    HTH.

    Hi,
I think just Canons are just clunky with Capture One.
Next thing I've found is that after using Live View both screen remain black (eos R) and I can't take a picture. I get into camera settings and i press shutter butten and it comes back to life 😄

There are some features that just doesn't work while tethered.

If you are finding that problem happens a lot then there are two things to do.

FIrstly make sure that is is not a power limitation problem or connection issue on the cable. This, as reported, can be more often a problem on certain Macs. Canon bodies seem to be a little more temperamental than most although some Nikon models are often mentioned when this sort of connection reliability issue is discussed in the forum.

Secondly create a Support Case if you have not already done so and investigate the problem with the Capture One Support Team.
