CO: TIFF Degraded Resolution After Panning/Zooming
I'm rather new to Capture One so this issue is probably my fault. Any suggestions appreciated ...
Environment: Windows 8.1 Pro with CO Pro 8 and "Sessions". Monitor 2550 x 1440 27 inch, Adobe color space.
01- I use CO primarily as a RAW (Nikon NEF) converter after applying critical adjustments. The result is superb (which is why I chose CO after trying a lot of other demos).
02- For finishing the image I have CO produce a TIFF (16 bit) and then "Open With" Paintshop Pro X7 (PSP) which provides additional image processing functionality I require (scripts, 8bf plugins, etc).
03- Upon completing processing in PSP I Save the TIFF which goes back in the Session Output folder under a different name (usually). TIFF settings are unchanged. This is a surprisingly comfortable workflow producing stunning results.
04- If I now go back to CO and reference the Session output folder I can select and view the final TIFFs. Much of the time - but *not always* - as soon as I pan or zoom (up or down) the image takes on a degraded appearance in CO, becoming very soft in appearance or, occasionally, appearing pixelated as if pixels had been clumped together. The same thing happens on 3 other machines (I have 2 CO licenses). I have not been able to discover any differences in the way the images are treated that would account for a majority of them behaving in this way.
In my situation where there is an excellent alternate way (PSP) to view and possibly re-edit finished images this is a minor annoyance but would be happier with a solution.
Best wishes,
Garth K.

Hi Garth,
I seems to remember having problems with TIFFs out of Paintshop Pro, in my case version X6. If that was with C1 Pro on the receiving end I can't recall...
On the other hand, from time to time users of C1 Pro will discover that C1 Pro is not the most ecumenical piece of software, meaning, most of a specification might be implemented, but occasionally...
So either of the two can be the culprit, or they both can. Nothing left possibly other than experiment, the benefit of which of course is that you get to trust your own eyes. Grab some TIFFs edited in software other than PSP and feed them to C1 Pro to see what happens.
It's is a fact that there are TIFFs, and then there are TIFFs, not all are created (or handled) equal.
Best of luck.
Cheers,
Mogens0
