Cocatalog package Originals folder
Can I delete the Originals folder in the cocatalog package if I have transferred all of the managed image files to referenced file folders? It has no data and seems to have no purpose.
Details: I typically import images from my camera card as managed files, cull and sort them and then move the remaining ones to referenced file folders. This leaves the folders in the path to the managed images in the Originals folder of the cocatalog package, but they have no data because the image files are no longer there. Is there any reason that I cannot delete these hundreds of items?

Are they doing any harm? Is the originals folder taking up much disk space now that you have no images in it? If not, I would just leave it alone. You can look for things in the originals folder if you are desperate to find something, but really it is like a system folder that is not much intended for direct access. You should be able to achieve everything you want from within Capture One. I would suggest that leaving well alone and not doing something outside of Capture One that might mess with its database is preferable.

Good question Ian. It does not take up much space and certainly is not doing any harm. It contained the managed files (before I moved them to referenced locations). After moving the files, it is just a useless tree of folders structured as cocatalogdb/Originals/YYYY/MM/DD with no remaining data. If I used managed files, I could easily locate the original files by date for whatever that would be worth.
I'll just leave it as a harmless artifact.

Maybe it is interesting to note that a catalog, that does not had or have any image file stored inside, does not have the Originals folder.
The Originals folder and subsequent subfolders is created when you import images inside the catalog for the first time.
That does not answer the OP's question, but it gives you an indication.0 -
Yes but if he typically imports as managed files at first, even if he deletes the originals folder, Capture One will just recreate it again next time he does an import.

Ian is undoubtably correct. Removing the empty Originals folder should be safe, but I admit it is trivial given the empty Originals folders and subfolders occupy virtually no space. I was just curious if others had actual experience removing empty Originals folders. Also, I might be a bit overly OCD.
