Keyword Hierarchy

I use C1 with WIN 10.

I migrated from LR earlier in the year. In so doing I imported my LR catalog into C1. While it did bring my keywords over it lost the hierarchy.

According to the Capture 1 eBook for v11 the hierarchy is possible. If I export my keyword setup from LR and import it into C1 does anyone know if the hierarchy will survive? If so, I assume I would have to repoint my pictures to various keywords. If I did this could I eliminate the original keyword that came over in the import less the hierarchy.

  Firstly, what are you expecting the Hierarchy to do?
  
  For practical search purposes a database will treat the "words" (can be phrases) or parts of them as individual search items. The hierarchy is an option for adding multiple words using only values found from one of the levels.
  
  Whilst derivation from a hierarchy may have some may have some element of functionality for future maintenance of the words it's probably not something that an established and archived set of images is going to be subjected to on a frequent basis.
  
  Does your extraction of the KWs from LR allow you to choose a format for the hierarchy produced?
  
  C1 expects what I believe is a fairly standard format used for commercially offered KW library files. A text file where each level of the hierarchy has it own line and indented by one additional "TAB" indent for each level.
  
  If LR can output that, C1 can import it.
  
  Or if you can extract a different structure that allows you reformat it easily that should also be viable.
  
  As for associating a new hierarchy file with existing entries from an LR conversion - I'm not sure. It's not something I have looked into. Others will be able to comment based on their experiences although whether many have attempted the regeneration of a complete library via extraction I don't know.
  
  I would guess that adding entries from the new hierarchical library would be quite easy should you choose to spend the time on it but I have no feel for what might be required to remove older entries should that be necessary. In some situation that might also be quite easy and handles in bulk as a batch. But in others maybe not.

  I exported my key words from LR and imported them into C1 before importing any images. Then I imported the images. Everything seems fine to me:
  1) Images have a list of keywords (the ones I expected too 😊
  2) The keyword hierarchy is preserved when I am adding new keywords to images - that is I can navigate a expanding hierarchy while I am searching for keywords.
