Syncing multiple cameras to be in order
Hi ,
I am a wedding photographer and I pretty much always have a second shooter. I am newer to Capture one and wanted to see how I can sync the times so my images go in order between the two of us.

The first thing is to make sure that the cameras all have the date and time set exactly the same, obviously.
I regularly use more than one camera. By default I sort folders into date order, rather than name or anything else. (When you are using the viewer, there is a button for a drop down in the browser toolbar (two arrows - one up and one down) and you can select from a huge list of things to order images by, like date, name, focal length, star rating and so on. When you are not in the viewer, there is a drop down field in the toolbar.)
That does it.

If you export them (say as TIFFs or JPGs) after doing whatever editing you want, it rather depends on where you store the exported files and how you order them there. You can still order any folder you like in date order, including your output folder. If you want to make it easy for your OS to order them that way outside C1, you could consider customising the name of the exported file to include the date and time at the beginning, which might make for long file names but easy sorting.

On Windows, one utility you might want to look at is BetterFileRename. (Oh, looks like they have it for Mac too.)

This is one of the better $20 software purchases I've made.
This allows you to rename images it tons of ways. You can include values from EXIF data into the filename, order by all kinds of fields. It is really handy. If you dump all files from multiple shooters in one folder, and they don't have custom prefixes in the filename, then it is possible to have a collision. So you can do a rename with just photographer suffix to start. Then put all images into same folder and start with a number by time shot, and include whatever else you want.
I don't see an easy way to push and pull shot time like in Lightroom, if your cameras were not synchronized.
The renames can get complicated, but you can save a "Droplet" in Windows (not sure if there is an equivalent in Mac). This allows you to drag files on top of it and load that rename preset. This is handy for common renames.0 -
Hi RobynBarkley you can use, filters or Smart Albums and then export from C1 using reciepts. Using tokens in reciepts naming you can any custom info into file name for simpler sorting. 0 -
Have a look at exiftool, also available on Windows. Best thing is to take an image of a watch at the same time, so you know from the embedded EXIF data how much you have to adjust. 0 -

I am such a slow learner, could you please provide the details on how I should put this into practice?
As an example: If I have two shots from different cameras where an image from the first camera recorded capture time 21:22:23 and an image from the second camera where capture time is 21:22:03. Thing is that the second image needs to sort after the first. I have reasons to believe that the second image was actually shot at the time the first camera clock would have read 21:22:43. The second camera clock is lagging 40 seconds relative to the first camera clock.
Now, there are of course many images from each camera (like hundreds) and I need the mix of images time sorted relative to one of the two camera clocks. Sorting the lot on capture time for proper sequence requires 40 seconds to be added to capture time recorded by camera 2 (or 40 seconds to be subtracted from the other).
How can I do "time math" like add/subtract 40 seconds to capture time ("image time"?) in the receipts renaming? Admittedly, I am relatively new to C1 and so far I always fall back to fix this kind of things using other software than C1.0
