Software is very slow

iMac 2013, MacOS 10.14. 3,5 GHz Processor i7, 2 x 4 and 1 x 8 GB memory.
Problem:
Software is terribly slow after installing. No running processes in the background visible (i.e. generating previews or else). Even clicking on menu points takes up to 5 seconds until software responds. Other programs on the is computer respond normal. Any chance we can speed this up?

    You could try to set the hardware acceleration to Never for Display or both Display and Processing. It is in the Preferences, General tab.
