Setting common IPTC values in multiple images!!
How does one set a common value in a particular IPTC field for multiple images at once?
(Even with "Edit Selected Variants", the entered IPTC data sticks to just the current active image instead of all selected images.)

In the Metadata tool once you have the field (or fields) you need populated in one image you can copy the contents to the Clipboard. Use the double arrowed Icon.
From the clipboard you can copy to other selected images, either individually or in a batch if you have "Edit all selected images" set or even if not set when using the clipboard for a single tool in this case. It is worth becoming familiar with the controls available with copy and paste actions.
Another option, though perhaps less commonly used with IPTC data in this context, is to establish the field you wish to duplicate (assuming it is supported) as a Filter to be used by the Filter tool.
Once it appears in the lost of known values you can simply drag and drop an image onto that value and populate that image and watch the count increase. For multiple images simply select the images, make sure the "Edit all Selected images" toggle is set ON and drag one of the selected images onto the filter value required.
Which approach will work best for your needs will be entirely dependent on circumstances and the nature of the information you are adding. Use which ever suits you best - even cutting and pasting the value for a single field image by image may work best in some cases.
