Diferent layers masks merge into one new layer
Hello everyone,
I am used to mask by brushing different objects/people/parts of the picture in different layers so I can apply specific local adjustments to each of them after.
For instance I would have:
Layer1 with Mask1
Layer2 with Mask2
Layer3 with Mask3
I came into situation where I need to do some background adjustments without affecting the before masked picture parts.
So I am opening a new layer and the easy way would be to just select the different masks (Mask 1, 2, 3) from the layers 1,2,3,and merge them into one new layer, then invert it.
But I still couldn't found a quick way to do that, now I only can to create a new layer, and re-brush all the masks again, then invert it.
Any different suggestion would be very appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,
I might be able to help to some extend...
You can copy a mask from one layer into another. For example, you copy mask from layer 1 into layer 4. However, this is limited to one mask. In case your next move would be to copy mask from layer 2 into layer 4, any mask that exists in layer 4 is removed.
You can do the copying form the action menu of the Local Adjustments tool. You can find the menu under the three dots at the top right.0 -
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reply.
Capture One has become my primary software for PP, after using extensively Lightroom and for a while DXO.
I am not the adept of the way "for every task there is a software", so instead to organize my photos in Lightroom, process the layers in Photoshop, denoise in DXO Prime and do whatever great PP things in Topaz Labs, I am trying to concentrate on one software and get the most of it.
That being said, I feel CO is really doing great job, first of all because of picture quality - as well the sharpening and denoise, not just the color - but I have to say, there is still much work to do in improving the workflow speed.
When you have to process like a couple of hundreds of pictures, then the workflow becomes a pain and what I need is SPEED.
I hope that the development team will also focus on this to get the things done more fast,as nowadays there is no more time to spend one day by contemplating one photo, here is not about the patience, but is about the volume of the work to do.

It might help us help you if you lay out what your workflow is. For me, workflow is plenty fast, even for large batches of pictures.
If you're coming from another tool, you may need to re-adjust to get the real benefit from CO.0
