Crop outside image - Clone content - no cigar
It appears one can't.
Is it really not possible or is it just me? Thanks.

Much appreciated, Ian, thanks.

I would like to do this as well. Many time in straightening an image there is a need to just add a small number of pixels of cloned content to the blank cropped outside area.

You can do it in Capture One if you use the "crop outside image" option, and then export a TIFF from the cropped image. The TIFF will have blank areas as you mention, but you can use the Heal or Clone tools on the TIFF to fill in the blanks.
Obviously there would be some advantage in doing it to the raw file if the facility was there. But if you do all your adjustments apart from filling in those blanks before you generate the TIFF, the quality will be fine.
