Lightroom Equivalent: Move selected photos into this folder
I switched from lightroom years ago but there is one thing that still drives me crazy.
When importing from a card into the capture folder in a session I need to create subfolders with groups of 20-50 images.
In LR it's as simple as right clicking in the LR browser > Create folder inside > Checking the box "include selected photos"
In C1 if I create a new "Favorites" folder by clicking plus it defaults to my pictures folder (not the session folder?) and I have to navigate to the session and create a folder each time. Then navigate back to the capture folder and drag and drop.
One workaround is to right click and create a new selects folder (which I need to mouse and click the field to name?) Then navigate back to the capture folder and Command + F to move selected files to the new selects folder.
It's all cumbersome and painful when I need to make 25 - 50 folders off of a card when it took minutes with LR.
Sorry if this is ranty but it's frustrating 😊
Does anyone know a faster way to move photos from a card import into sub folders with C1?
Thanks for any help!!!

Just curious, is there a particular reason why you want to do this? Maybe your end-goal can be achieved via another way?

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your reply.
Some shot groups are tethered some are not. I need to know the exact shot names from the client on site when tethered so I create a new capture folder for the tethered shots. Then I take shot groups untethered when I need to be mobile.
When I import the card I need to create similar folders for these shot groups.
LR has an incredibly simple way to do this. You right click in the library into the project folder > Create folder inside > and there is a check box that will move the selected folders inside that folder.
With C1, if I click to add a new session favorite it by default always opens my pictures folder(?) and I have to manually navigate every time to my session folder > create the new folder > then drag and drop from the capture folder. Or create a new selects folder and then control J to move them. But there has to be a faster way to do this.
It's laborious on a track pad in front of a client after a 12 hour shoot naming and organising the card shots into sub folders.
I need to physically move shot groups from the capture folder to a subfolder for organisation and archival.
Is there a *simple* way to create a session favorite > and copy selected images to it?0 -
(damn, I overlooked your sentence about the selects folder and Control-J. There goes my helpful answer about easily making a new capture folder and drag&drop the images in there ... 😉. So you also know about creating albums with selected images... That'll teach me to read the question more carefully!)
I fully agree that LR has a couple of very good workflow features that are missing in C1. It took C1 until version 9.something before you could create an album containing the selected images. I guess you'll have to wait another 9 versions to get the same checkbox in the "Create folder" feature... (OK, I'm a bit cynical here... sorry).
Sorry I couldn't help you any further.
Cheers,

I appreciate your reply Peter,
I was hoping there was a workflow feature I am missing... Or maybe not to use "favorites" and use some other function.
I was really hoping that Phase One would listen to it's users here in the forums when implementing new features, but I really don't think they do.
I am still waiting for "don't import selected duplicates!!!" There are countless forums threads with people moaning about this fundamental missing feature for years now!
Is it in version 10? Nope...
