Looked pretty real. I had several questions about the page so I opened a support case to ask - using my saved link. I'll let you know if they freak out 😄

I received the email and ordered the upgrade.

Everything went through like it probably should have and I got a license/SN for Capture One 20. Within minutes my credit card was shut down I was being contacted by the bank's fraud department. I talked to them and straightened things out - the payment will be made and my credit card works again. I have no idea what is going on but there was something strange about the purchase. FWIW I am in Canada.

Email is sent from Phase One and Marketo (verified), so there should not be any fraudulent message or fake announcement. Offer is also on CO upgrade page on Phase One site.

But the main question is : what's new in this CO 20 ? Not sure that all current users want and need this new version. When will it be available ? Until now, no information at all, personally I couldn't see any significant information. Somebody has an idea ?

Based on recent past years where the annual update seems to have become the usual way forward and tends to fit somewhat with Apple/Microsoft major release schedules and new camera body availability form manufacturers, one would perhaps expect availability for download very early in December.

The first stage of a public beta program would normally be to allow users registered for testing assistance to see what may be on offer although some ideas might not make it to the first release is problems are significant problems are identified are the idea is disliked.

A typical beta test process for most developing companies with a public user base and consumer aimed products will typically last a few weeks. Soi the contents that will make it to release may start to become known sometime between the first general release and the finally set availability date.

Let's see what happens. There may not be long to wait if the concepts of recent past years are followed again.

Try the "Capture One Beta" version - there everything (available) new is being written and explained. Go to "Your Account" and watch out the "Capture One Beta".
Be aware, that everything there is under NDA, so nothing to talk about here.

Posted the same answer here: What's new in CO Pro 20.

    Kind Regards,

I did take advantage of CP1 20 upgrade with 20% discount. I then asked support if CP1 20 will be compatible with OSX Catalina. They told me that they can't comment on future releases. I find this specific answer to my question absurd. This is about OS compatibility...not about features. I guess another way to find out is to ask anyone out there if they have d/l the beta and they are running Catalina. This is not part of their NDA. 'Yes, I d/l and testing?????

It's policy as it always has been.

One might well suggest that Catalina compatibility at time of release would be an obvious target.

One might also observe that to be able to say that in public would require that other parties who might have some influence over the ability to deliver a full "compatible" product - notably Apple in this case but also, for some users, any other vendors of GPU cards, third party products in general and, perhaps specifically companies like Wacom and other closely associated hardware vendors might also need to be sure they have Catalina compatible products that can be shown supported without known risks.

If, as reported, there are some issues across many software products that are currently being addressed one may well expect them to be fixed before one's intended release date - but if such success is reliant on others it is not something to guarantee in public.

    IMO.

About a month (September-2019) C1 was not properly tested for even OS10.14.6 - Mojave (told me after I did an upgrade to Mojave), but I did not find any weird issues, only some minor issues, easily to fix. I think policy is one thing and client support and proper common sense is something else. I cannot recommend to upgrade before do at least the beta test. If you have, as of this reading, no issues with Catalina and the actual C1, you would probably have no issue with C1-20.
I did so far not find any wow-effects from the Beta, that makes me think, I must have it ASAP, but test it by yourself, I can highly recommend.
As mentioned here before: Go to "Your Account" and watch out the "Capture One Beta".

    Kind Regards,

Is the Beta limited to a select group, I can't see any info about it under "My Account". I have pre-purchased CO 20.

It should not be limited in my opinion - on my screen in my Account, where it says "HELLO UWE" (my name BTW), below the "Order History" in the lower right corner it is a large button: "Capture One Beta"

Might be for the full version? Means, no monthly subscription?
Me, working on Mac not on Windows - might be Beta for Mac only?
Let´s see, if someone could shed some light into this.

My policy forbids preorder anyway, before knowing most details 😄
But as of this writing I did not check every detail, so …

    Kind Regards,
    Uwe

No button for the beta 😕
I have the Capture One Fuji version, so maybe they're limiting it to the Subscription licenses.

    Hi
When I go to the CO download page and then select the upgrade option and login I see I can upgrade from v11 to v12 for $149 that includes free upgrade to CO20. Does this $149 include the 20% discount being discussed? This is not clear to me
    Thanks
    Al

According to the emailed message the special offer price is only available to existing V12 licenses.

However, in effect you seem to be able to make 2 version upgrades for the regular cost for one, which sounds like an even better deal in reality.

Thanks. How does one get email from Phase One? I used to get them daily, but the stopped (except for support tickets) in August 2018.

Well I am subscribed to receive whatever information is being sent out (News, etc. Various boxes one can tick in various places) and I certainly don't see mail every day and probably not even every week.

That said you might want to check that your email address for non-Support related matters is correct and presumably you have already confirmed that your mail system is not re-directing to spam folders (easily missed for a week or two but not so easy to not be prompted to check spam for over a year!)

However this particular offer seems to have been sent out over a period of 2 or perhaps 3 days and is for version 12 users with perpetual licenses. (Subscription, of course, would automatically include the upgrade.)

I think with absolutely any site there is the possibility that some enforced internal admin loses data for some reason and if things go quiet form a source that has previously been active with "news" style updates I tend to tick the box next time it is available to see if the traffic picks up. It's only a click.

However this mail seems to have been specifically targeted to V12 users.

As I mentioned before your upgrade price from V11 to V12 with the promise of C1 20 when it is released is, in effect, an even better deal. Do it and you won't need the mail PLUS you will get immediate access to the the additional features of V12.
