Capture One and Affinity Photo PSD's
I thought I had the AP and C1 roundtrip sorted. I 'edit with' Affinity Photo then save the PSD file back into C1.
I had imagined that the PSD would be saved with all layers intact, allowing me to re-open the PSD at a later date and resume with edits and all previous layers. In my case the PSD seems to be flattened back to one background layer.
I'd appreciate any advice on how to preserve the layers please.
Software versions in case they are relevant
C1 12.1.5
Affinity Photo 1.7.3
MacOS 10.15.2

Save the ASD in Affinity.
"Saves As" a flattened PSD or, better, TIFF for capture one.
C1 can output files in OSD with a limited ability to include some layers that are overlays (Annotation instructions for example) but it has no way of using PS or Affinity layers itself, not least because it does not offer all of the tools that might be used in a layer and thus there is no point to attempting any form of extended PSD support.
So C1 will always need to flatten a PSD file before it can work with it.
I guess you could also read in the saved PSD that initially contained layers, work on the flattened image and then output as a "Save As" flattened PSD. The original file would them be preserved for further Affinity editing if required - but without any addition C1 edits.
You could then re-open it in Affinity, make changes, re-save with the changes. Then re-open in C1 and copy the edits form the previously edits version to the newly revised version if still usable after the new edits. Then save again as a new file.
It sounds messy to me but possible if not attempting bulk processing. (might be scriptable via Apple Script?)
