RAW plus JPEG

I suppose you mean working with two images, one raw and one jpg, that were recorded by the camera at the same time ?

C1 has no way to copy settings/look from the jpg taken as part of a raw+jpg set and apply them to the raw file... not that I know of. Since I don't know how Aperture did this, I can't offer any ideas that might be helpful.

On another note that may be some help.. I use auto WB. I let the camera take its best guess when I take the picture. Later, I let C1 take its best guess at WB. Then, I may have tried a gray card, if it works for the scene, or just pick a neutral part of the subject within the image itself and use the WB tool dropper to pick WB there. Comparing the 3-4 different takes on WB helps me get color as best as is possible for me.

I mention this because color seems to be the hardest part for me and comparing slight differences helps me zero in what I think looks best.

For any changes to WB or contrast or curve or whatever it is, I always use variants. It is very hard for me to make.. good changes without looking at 'before' and 'after'. I tend to stray from what looks good to me, really, if I don't have a before.after to help keep me on track.

Anyway, no help for your Q about raw+jpg, but I hope the comments will help you refine your images. You can always use the [camera produced] jpg as a touchstone [and starting point for before/after] even though C1 won't copy the look...

    - - this is quite a late response to your question and I hope the reply is still relevant
