On (1), what is your naming convention? Mine is date + counter, so for example 2020-01-13-1234.NEF. It does that for me automatically on import.

First of all, you have to open a support case to let Phase One know about this 'cause this is just a user to user forum. Trying to help you instead:

    1. Please make it so that my personal naming convention can be a "default" setting, instead of having to redo it each time.

Like Ian my naming conventions are retained. Also you can save presets to save and recall them if you need. There's no need to build them each time.

    2. Can you please move the Deleted Files AWAY (preferably in another tab) from the Select Files? I mean, seriously! I've had to fish out a dozen or more files from the trash because my mouse accidentally drifted over the Trash folder instead of the Select folder. Also, having the Delete file option way at the bottom makes it extremely difficult to select. Please move it back or at least somewhere above the tab floor.

I think you're referring to the image menu or the right click menu where "Move to Selects folder" is immediately above the deleting option(s). You can also drag images to Selects folder in library tab but, even though this is not above Trash folder, you could still have problems with your mouse and drop them on a wrong Session folder. The best solution is to leave the mouse and use the keyboard shortcut to move them avoiding any kind of error (unless you press the wrong shortcut too). Also, in case of errors, you can perform an undo to revert immediately the situation.

    4. While you're at it, can you do something about the Session folders? If I have to change the name of a client after I've taken the photos, it's really difficult. I wish that were easier to do, because it happens relatively frequently.

It's not that difficult. Reach the folder in System folders (fastest way: right click a picture, a Sessione favorite or a Session folder and click Show in library), right click it and choose Rename. 10 seconds? No more than that.

And 5. What's the deal with the Trash folder? Why can't those files just go into my recycle bin like every other software program on the market? I have had a few instances where I've deleted them, only to have it bite me in the ass later. At least if they were in the Recycle Bin, I could theoretically retrieve them.

As long as pictures stay inside Session (even in Trash folder) the link with edits is retained. When you empty the Trash folder, relative files are deleted too. What should Capture One do if files were moved to recycle bin losing track of them?
Also, I don't understand what should be the difference between resuming a file from recycle bin and Session folder. If you don't empty Trash Folder you can recover your files. Also when you import, you could create a backup of all of your files (or keep them on the card) and keep it as long as you're not sure you're completely done with your session. Should you change your mind on a permanently deleted image you can recover it easily.

On (2), you can use the keyboard shortcut for Move to Selects. No drag and drop problems and faster too.

    For item 3.

I have an old, manual, telephoto lens that is very prone to purple fringing in certain lighting conditions.

C1 deals with with all but the most extreme examples I can create by eliminating the PF. The most extreme examples are greatly reduced - to almost the point of elimination and leaving only some pink fringing around medium sized extremely blown highlights. I can fix the remainder, should I feel the need, in other ways.

Whether some software that is not a RAW converter can handle the situation more elegantly I don't know. I have not, so far, felt a need to investigate on the basis that the time it would take would not justify any advantage that could be derived for my purposes.

I appreciate that for others that might result in a different decision.

I can't think of any situations with my more modern lenses where I have noticed any PF that C1 as not been able to deal with when asked. Perhaps I am just lucky in my lens choices? Or perhaps for my normal subject matter PF is simply not a paramount concern.

Is it possible that for some reason your particular circumstances and needs make PF a greater concern than for most people?

If so this might not be clear to the C1 developers if they do not have the same experiences. When you raise a Support Case to propose enhancement it would probably be useful to provide one or two example files to assist with the full appreciation of the problem you see.

    3. Fix the Purple Fringing option on your software. PS does a way better job, but it's the only thing it does better, so fix that, please.

I have never - not once - had an image that Capture One was unable to correct for fringing.

I only use high quality modern lenses, however - I just don't see it as Capture One's responsibility to make up for a photographer's (perhaps questionable?) lens choices, which is to my mind a self-inflicted injury.
