We cannot edit Video Files, only preview them using Quicktime.
Without the ability to edit, there is no ability to properly read and integrate XMP/Keywords/Metadata.

This is not entirely true. Possibility to edit content (exposure, curves etc.) IMO does not imply that metadata are not editable. These are two different things. Probably current C1 version can not distinguish these two possibilities.

Currently (v8 build 453) C1 for each previewed file (RAW, JPEG, TIFF, movie) create a .cos file in the CaptureOne/Settings80 subdirectory. These files contain all settings including metadata. If metadata/keyword are manually added to the .cos file then C1 correcly show metadata in metadata tool (but metadata tool is disabled for editing) for all types including movies. This gives me an idea that this feature can be added with minimum effort.

Hi, was not sure where to post this, but saw 'suggestion' and thought may as well here.

    Just a note to ask.

I see that with Version 8, Phase One is now also offering the subscription model.

My request is that, while this will be great for some, and good that you offer them that and must remain viable in the market, so I understand, please, PLEASE, do not stop offering the perpetual license version / upgrade path.

I have version 8 and plan to continue using the Phase One Pro versions for my RAW conversions. I am only an amateur, but enjoy the output from Capture One very much.

Thank you and have a great day.

    Regards

We haven't and we don't plan to.
The Subscription model is simply an OPTION for large organizations, it takes the trouble out of upgrading, budgeting and license management.
For the individual, the License Purchase is always available.

I have already written a post about it but ...Please make sure that the raw Fujifilm (X-Trans) are able to use the automatic mask and LCC.

I am a member of the Italian Fujifilm Club, and C1 unfortunately is no longer recommended to anyone who asks what raw converter to use. C1 is very good, but the other (Lightroom for example) allow you to use all functions without limitations and this is preferred by users.

I wanted to create video tutorials to encourage the fujifilm users to use C1, but unfortunately I had to give up the idea and waiting for developments.

I'm a Nikon user. I use/ have used View / Capture NX2 and NX-D. I love Nikon's Picture Control system, especially the new version.

I took advantage of the generous PhaseOne upgrade offer, Express 7 to Pro 8. Awesome 😄 However… I feel naked in Capture One, on account I've nothing that equates to Picture Controls/ film emulsions.

It would ease the transitional pains for this Nikon user if such PCs were available. Lightroom has camera profiles, Fuji has its film emulsion variants.

    Please ☹️

You could give Styles a shot in Capture One. They are perfectly fit for the job. In case you do not plan to make them yourself, browse the web for what others have made.

Thanks Paul, I will give your suggestion a try, but I think there's great beauty in Nikon's Picture Control and I'm not so sure anybody comes close to the ease and simplicity of using this Nikon centric system. Am I correct in thinking that Capture One interprets the Picture Control tag in the NEF file, for each file? It seems there's some interpretation going on.

I am afraid I am not properly informed of the magic of Picture Control. In general, such image control is brand specific and not used by CO8.

Here's a link to Nikon's Picture Control microsite, it may be off interest

Thanks, it was what I expected. Canon has a similar feature. It is mainly development for the JPEG shooters (read: images processed in-camera) and now regained interest for DSLR movie shooting. It is proprietary to the brand. Not support in Capture One, as far as I can tell. Great feature by the way.

You may see some effect in Capture One anyway, when taking the same image with different Picture Control settings. It the PC setting affects exposure, it will show in Capture One.

Have now put in what must amount to around 50 hours into learning Capture One Pro. It's staggeringly good for a host of reasons! The 'but' is there's no map/ GPS / tracks feature, like in say Adobe LR and Nikon's View NX2. Think of collections of flora, fauna or whatever, populated with GPS data in the tags. With a map, the distributions can be viewed. GPX tracks/ trails that tell a story etc.

Bing maps, installed Silverlight browser plugin, UK Ordnance Survey (OS) maps… support in Capture One 😄 !
