Copying image adjustments from background to new layer

Can anyone tell me how to copy image adjustments fromthe  background to a new layer?

To give an idea of the action: I made a couple of adjustments in an image, but decided that I would like to leave the image itself unadjusted and to have all the adjustments in an layer. So I would like to copy the adjustments to the adjustment clipboard (no problem with that) and to paste the settings to a new fill layer.

After that I should discard off the background adjustments and keep only the adjustment layer. This would give me the opportunity to switch the layer, and so the adjustments, on and off and could even adjust their opacity.

Nice idea not? But.. I see no way to copy the settings from the background to the layer.

I would appreciate your help.

    Create a Style.from the Background adjustments. Apply the Style to the layer.

    HOWEVER - not all tools that can be used on the Background can be applied to a layer.

    You will need to take that into account.
