moving ALL images from Capture 12 to 20
I want to move ALL my images from Capture One 12 to 20 all at once! AND have them stay there !
Every time I move images into 20 they disappear !! Even images downloaded from memory cards.

Mac or Windows?
Why do you need to "move" anything?
What have you moved and where do you think you sent it?

I'm using a Mac. Why move ?? I want to use 20 and not 12 !! The big question here is why didn't all the images "move"
when I installed 20 automatically like when you upgrade Lightroom from 6 to 8 every image comes along. That's just basic
programming 101 dam stupid of Capture One ! I download images from a memory stick. When I did that the other images
the were on 20 were no longer there I didn't "send" them anywhere.
Thanks

Right,
So you installed V20.
(Did you delete V12? Just out of interest)
Your catalogue(s) or sessions should have remained untouched just where they were.
Your "Recent Files" list may have vanished. I'm not a Mac person so I have no idea about those things.
Find a Catalogue or session from C1 and open it. You should be prompted to update the Catalogue or Session Database form V12 to V20.
After that open the Catalogue or Session and continue. You will a choice about whether to also update the Processing Engine for each individual Image. It is optional - unless you want to use a couple of the new features.that require the new engine.
I'll leave it there for now until we have established that you have found and can open your catalogues/sessions.

Damn 101 of C1 is that you do not have to move anything when upgrading!
I wonder if moving images is damn stupid 101 if upgrading Lightroom version...

I had the same problem, in a C1-20 webinar David Grover mentioned going to File [ Capt.one 20 ] select open and it will bring you to your folders that you established Catalogs or Sessions in the previous version. As far as SFA mentions it's not an automatic conversion update per IMAC computer. I right clicked on the folder items and open-with in Capture One-20, I found I had to do it with each catalog. Although I truly enjoy David's webinars there is a learning curve with C 1 as far as " Why can't I transfer catalogs from one version to another ". They don't make it obvious....Jack

Maybe it is different on Macs. In Windows it is really easy. In File menu you select either Open Recent or Open, in case of the latter you locate your catalogs. Or you double-click on a catalog in the file system. Then the new version asks you if you want to update your catalog. It will make a backup before upadating your catalog. Done. Images don't have to be moved.
Yes you have to update each catalog separately, as each catalog is a separate database. I would be pissed if all catalogs on my computer would be updated automatically. I then could not even make a copy of a catalog to test a new version for example.
Yes there is a learning curve with C1, but updating a catalog is really not so hard to understand, imo.

BeO....I think the original post concerned the frustration with moving Catalog files from C1-12 to C1-20 at least with Macs. I didn't say that images themselves need to be moved but the catalogs containing them. As an example in his earliest webinar on C1-20 it took a question during this webinar for David to mention " easy " and he works on a Mac. It would have been some added foresight to incorporate that procedure initially into the webinar. Possibly for those who have been working a number of years on different versions of Capt. One there sense of logic is obvious, to others it's a bit less...Jack

Jack,
Well, actually, I find the two descriptions of the thread opener is not very clear, but I think he doesnot really seek for help but just wanted to put off his frustration instead of trying to understand C1, so maybe he is better served with LR. I quit posting in this thread.
