    Hi Tim,

One thing to understand (at least for the future, if you cannot restore your edits) is that C1 does not alter your original files, which are usually raw files from a camera, DNGs, Tiffs, or even Jpgs. All your adjustments done with C1 are non-destructive (they do nit change the original file) and are stored either in the session folders in files or in the catalog (but still then, masks are stored in files in the Adjustments folder). Hence, for a backup procedure which should also backup your edits you need to be aware of this. You can just keep the session as is, you can delete the preview and thumbnail files though (.cop, cot) but it won't save so much storage, depending on your preview size.

The previw files (.cop) are for the big Viewer window in C1. As for the preview in the import dialog showing your edited version of the DNG: There might be an exception to my statement that original images are not altered, maybe the tiny embedded preview image within the exported DNG file is. I did not hear this before but maybe this exception exists, and maybe only for DNGs.

No idea for the green cast either.

    regards

    P.S. summary:

    • orinigal files and your adjustments are stored separately
    • whatever image you import or open by browsing in a session is considered an original file, which will not be changed in any way, not even rating or keywords, metadata
    • import dialog shows tiny preview image which is embedded in to be imported (original) files
    • browser window shows thumbnail files (.cot) which will be generated by C1, includes a preview of your adjustments
    • Big viewer window shows preview files (.cop) generated by C1, includes a preview of your adjustments
    • DNG handling is possibly a bit different?

Excellent summary.   I don't think DNG handling is any different.  At least I've not noted any differences.
