Many thanks for the detailed answer. I had tried several cloud applications (Dropbox, iCloud, MagentaCloud [Telekom in Germany]). Usually I got the message that the session and the pictures were "offline". I will try again with your tips.
I already watched parts of your video yesterday; maybe I didn't understand everything (I translate here with deepl.com ;-) )

The message "offline" is typical for a catalog with referenced images (stored outside the catalog folder), and not related to sessions. Please correct me if I am wrong.

When you use a catalog with a cloud service, make sure the images are stored inside the catalog folder, also known as managed images.

"Offline" means the images cannot be found in the referenced location. They are not where they were originally imported from, if you let them reside in the "current" location when importing (referenced catalog). Different possible reasons e.g. You moved them with Windows explorer or Finder (Mac), or you deleted them, or uploaded (moved) them to cloud, or your file system is unavailble e.g. if unplugged an external drive, etc.

Paul, I don't see why only a "managed" catalog could be used with the cloud, in general. Specific cloud services may of course work differently, especially with sub folders.

Alfred, I think you need to find out if the images are still located in the session folders, or what happend to them.

It took a long time for this answer....
I have uploaded some sessions to a cloud. I was able to edit these sessions independently with both a Macbook Pro and an iMac.

In order to be able to search the images of all sessions by keywords, I wanted to combine the sessions in a catalogue (I think there is no other way to do such a search). I tried it with both a stored catalogue and a referenced catalogue.

In both cases: I could only access the catalogue with one computer at a time; no images were visible on the other computer.

My internet speed is good (1,000 Mbit/s download and 50 Mbit/s upload). The catalogue is about 40 GB in size.

    What have I done wrong?

You can only access a catalog with one computer at a time, this is by design.

You can lock a catalog, which means that it becomes read-only. In this state, multiple users/computers can access a catalog simultaneously.

I had of course closed Capture One on the MacBook Pro before opening it on the iMac.

I had set up the catalogue yesterday morning. The synchronisation of the cloud with both comaputers was shown to me as finished after about three hours. Yet I could only use the catalogue on the MacBook Pro, which I tested several times yesterday.

I tried it again now - about 30 hours later. And it works. That can only mean that the synchronisation took longer after all.

It seems I have found the solution to my problem. Now I just have to hope that working with a 500 GB catalogue won't be too slow.

    Many thanks to all.
