Copying edits from my laptop to my desktop

It sounds like it might work, but its likely something hat has not been tried, nor tested. So it could go wrong, and if it does it could affect your the catalog on your desktop computer.

I would definitely backup the catalog you are importing into. I'd back it up two ways, using Capture Ones backup, and make a copy of the catalog.

Next question is - how many images are involved? If it is just a small number, there is a simpler and more robust way. It makes use of the fact that C1 only has one clipboard for all open documents. As follows:

    • Export the edited images as a catalog (without the option, include original images)
    • Copy the exported catalog to your desktop
    • Open both catalogs with C1 at the same time
    • For each image: In the exported catalog, 1) copy the adjustments to the clipboard 2) In the desktop catalog paste the adjustments to a variant of the image (optional - create a new variant of the image  for the copied adjustments)

I've tried this in Capture One 12 and it works. A bit tedious, but controls exactly how the adjustments are pasted.

Make sure you are using the same version of Capture One on both machines.

Thank you very much for your reply and your suggestion, ericnepean. It's about 12 images in total, so your methode is an option surely. And I agree, that it's way safer than my suggestion. I have the same version of Capture One running on both machines. I'll give it a try.

    Cheers.

Yes Walter, I'm using catalogs on both machines. And in the meantime I have tried the method ericnepan described and that did the trick for me. So thanks again eric.

But I'm glad to know the method I figured out is working too and since you've done a lot of times without a problem, now I can safely edit images on the laptop and then copy them to the desktop if needed.

Thank you very much, the both of you.
