Copy to selects rather than move?
Hi
I'm wondering is there any way rather than moving the original raw file to the selects folder but to copy it? I want to keep the original directory structure for backup purposes so would really like to copy the file rather than move it but haven't found a way yet.
Thanks

Using the Selects folder is not compulsory - just a mechanism of convenience for those who can make use of it.
Just finding some other way to identify your personally preferred images is the way to go.
Most people likely use a colour tag and/or star rating combination. Plus, maybe, keywords or other metadata fields and perhaps a Fixed Album (or Smart album(s) based on the metadata combinations).

What exactly is this backup purpose?
The raw files do not change anyway. Having an emergency backup in a parallel folder means it is on the same disk, not ideal, either.
Any other purpose?

So I keep a single backup of the entire shoot. I keep several more backups of the top rated photos so due to the large amount of additional data required that is why I'm looking for an easy way to have those separated out from the rest of the shoot for the additional backups. That is why I'm looking to have a 'copy to selects' rather than move option.
I have gone into explorer and enabled the rating column hoping I could sort by that and just copy that way but none of them have a star rating even though they do in C1.
I'd really rather not have to go through the folder and manually find those files and copy them manually.
If there's any other methods other than using selects that'd be appreciated I just thought it would be the best way to accomplish this.

C1 will never alter your raw files, i.e. it will not even set a rating afaik. The rating is for variants of the same raw file and stored in sidecar .cos files I assume, or in the session catalog. Never mind, you can export the originals from a C1 menu (I think it is under the main menu "Image". So, filter and select (in the browser) your top rated images and export originals (raw files).

Thanks heaps for that! I thought you could only export as tiff / jpg etc, never noticed that in the export originals option that it did actually copy the original cr2 file that I need for proof of copyright. That will certainly give me what I need :)
