That is true when you have Liveview active in the program. When you don't have Liveview active (by having clicked on the icon) you can use the camera body to shoot to the program. Frustrating but its easy to switch between the two methods.

Wireless shutter releases don't function when Liveview is active either.

I set up a special Workspace for Liveview.

Its the same with Canon EOS Utility 3. Capture One has better functionality in some regards but EOS Utility 3 better in others e.g. the latter can have the off cam flashguns altered remotely whereas C1 cannot control the flash settings.

The Live View in the program is switched off. The software recognizes the camera but when I press the shutter button on the computer screen the camera shutter activates but no image is produced on the camera or on the computer screen. The camera has no functionally at all when hooked up to the tether cable. I am getting a Canon EOS Utility popping up when I first open the capture One program. I have to "Quit" that utility to make it go away. This same EOS utility popes up in Lightroom as well however I dont have and issues when tethering using Lightroom.

Do you have a memory card in the camera?

If so, try with it removed.
