Smart album of black and white pictures
I'm trying to create two smart albums: one with all of my BnW pictures and one with all my Color pictures. Looking at the filters in the smart albums I could not find a way to do this. Would this be possible?
If not I think it would be a nice feature to add.
Thanks

It may depend upon how you have created your B&W images - many options but one would be whether they are variants of an original colour source file.
The easiest option to make the required Smart Albums might be to use a Keyword for the B&W images.
That said any text based metadata field, so long as it would be used consistently and does not conflict with intended use (in the situation where a professional adherence to the metadata IPTC standards is required) could also be used.

@SFA Yes I could do it with keywords, but I have thousands of pictures and I should review all of them adding a tag to all the BnW ones. Also, in the future, I will need to remember to put the keyword after editing a BnW photo . Half of my pictures are BnW, so it would be very easy to forget this sometimes and I think this is exactly the opposite of "smart".
It think it would be nice to have a filter that checks whether the pictures was turned to BnW with the toggle in the BnW editing panel. I just submitted a feature request for this.
Thank you again for your time

I don't know whether you are on Mac or Windows. If you are on Mac, it's possible that someone with knowledge of scripting could devise something to find the images with the Enable B&W box checked.

Yes, I'm on Mac. If someone could do that would be amazing.
Thanks

Would it also be a case of checking for any images with saturation, on a level somewhere, being set to 0?
Just thinking aloud for a generic "catch all" situation.

I think this would be a great idea

I agree. This kind of feature is greatly appreciated. I also want a smart album that contains BnW images, regardless of how they got BnW.

Just tried to create a smart album with criteria "any" and one of the names of the BnW presets.
didn't work.0 -
In the adjustments there is a simple "Boolean" field for whether the black and white adjustment tool is enabled. It would seem so easy to implement a filter for this. In AppleScript you can easily query for it so I am confident this is possible.
