Silver Efex Plugin Not Showing in Plugins Presets
Hi, using Capture One 20 and newest version of Silver Efex Pro. The program is not showing up as an option under preferences, plugins. So, I have to click: edit with, browse, browse to folder, then click the executable file.
From tutorials I've seen online, it should show up in Preferences, PlugIns. Can someone help figure out how to get it to show up?
Thanks.

This is going to sound silly but it is how you do it with C1 and Windows.:-(
Find a jpg file in file explorer, right click and select "Open with" and then "choose another program". From the dialogue box that opens choose other apps and scroll down until you see "look for another app on this PC". Navigate to the .exe file for silver Efexpro and choose that. Select always use this app for jpg's. Silver EfExpro will open with the selected jpg file.
Close Silver EfexPro and then look at the Plugin App in C1 Preferences. Silver Efex should now show up. It might be necessary to restart your computer to make it show up.
Once it is shown you can then go back and reset your jpg "open With" preferences back to whatever app you normally use.
It may work without having to check the "Always use this app" box but....
It's embarrassing to type this but that's how you do it.
Best of luck.

Basically for what ever reason the Silver Efex Program has not registered itself with Windows in your installation.
Reason unknown. Possibly because it was never set as a "default" for the file type. Windows seems to like things that are set as "default" at some point in their usage.
It's a one off action to add it to Windows registration and make it available more widely - including to C1's Plug-in options.

Hi,
Well, back again to this never ending story (but it will last longer than the Groundhog Day, I'm afraid)). Issues about the Edit with... / Open with... commands have been reported since at least 4 years. The only answer from P1 has been this ridiculous plugin that doesn't even work for many users since version 20.0.2.
https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360009409497-Adding-Programs-to-quot-Open-With-quot-PluginUnfortunately, the old threads from the previous forum have been removed, not even archived. It's not a good thing to make history disappear. I would even say that's unfair.
Basically, using the registry to build the list of eligible external programs is a mistake. This is a flawed design. The workarounds above may help for a while but the issue will reappear whenever Windows or another application makes changes in the registry. The only safe way to manage external editors is how Lightroom does it. Period.
