Process query

If your 100s are all the same 100 images, same crop, same edits but perhaps differences set in the final output decisons as can be set or unset in the Output Processing recipes, then yes you can sleect the 100 variants, the 3 recipes, hit the button and send them all to the processing queue and have them distributed to different places in different formats.

If there are, for example, different crops then those images and related recipe (?) might need to be added to the batch queue separately. As would your batch of 10 since they are clearly a different selection. (Unless you simply processed all 100 and then eliminated the ones you did not want the press to receive.)

Thanks Grant, yes the 100 images would be identical.

    1.  Keepers would be best quality tiff

    2.  Facebook would be low res, watermarked

    3.  Smugmug, best quality jpeg.

    4.  Local press, would be same as Facebook but without watermark.

What I ideally wanted to do was rename and use the output folder for keepers.  Use a renamed select folder for Facebook.  Create new folders in the session folder for Smugmug and local press.  I don't think this can be done though, they have to be sub folders of the output folder.  Not a massive issue.

    Thank you.

    Simon,

The "Select" folder is a convenience folder set up when a new session is created because it is deemed to be a commonly used approach so somewhere back in time C1 users were presumably asking for it.

In a Session the "Selects" folder that appears in the Library is a Virtual folder. Any folder can be designated as the Selects folder for the purpose of mving things to a chosen folder via a Keyboard Shortcut.

However Output Processing, via the Recipes, is a different host of opportunities.

All 4 of your listed requirements could be processed to different folders in a single activity using Recipes (Except where you are only publishing 10 images in which case you would need to deselect the other 90 you do not want.)

There are 2 parts to what you want to do.

One part is to create the recipe that controls the file type, size, resolution, watermark, metadata inclusions or exclusions, etc., for each output required. There can be a file naming convention element to that as well using a token system.

The other is to define the output location for each also using a token system with numerous variables that, carefully chosen, would likely automate the naming process for you for regularly undertaken projects.

Far too much to describe here but I'm sure there are several Tutorials and Webinars that cover the functionality as well as the User Guide sections. The Token system was introduced several versions ago and although token options have been added from time to time the basic concept has been consistent so even tutorials, etc. for early versions of C1 are likely to retain relevance.

    Brilliant, thanks Grant.

    I'm experimenting now.

I was wondering if the rating system could be a way to go, say ...

Keepers, FB and Smugmug all 5 star, the Proc Rec would then take care of sending them to the correct folders Then 1 star for the local press which would pick out the 10 images.   I need to explore more tokens, never used them.

Cancel some of that!  Of course if I had the 10 images for press with one star they wouldn't go to the other folders, maybe a colour tag. :)

    Cheers

    Simon.
