Luominar does offer this feature but when i select luminar with edit with or open with luminar it does not appear. the people at luminar have a tutorial but it just does not work

Hi Jérôme, Riccardo,
I would definitely be interested as well on anyone else's experiences with achieving roundtrips between Capture One and Luminar.
AFAIK, Luminar 4 does not yet offer a plugin for CO unfortunately. But it sure works as an external editor (see screenshot).
Have you checked whether Luminar is registered as an external editor in CO ? Preferences > Plugins > Open With. If it's not there, try to associate Luminar with any type of image file from within Windows Explorer: right click > open with > Luminar. Then restart CO. I think that's what did it for me. Still not there? try "browse" from the "edit with" context menu, and restart.
CO Session seems to work best for me. I would also recommend "Edit with" when possible, which sends the CO variant in your target output format to Luminar alongside its metadata. Whereas "open with" just tells Luminar to load the original file (no metadata afaic.) You might as well try to integrate it in a process recipe.
Does it help?

Thanks for the tip. I did have this problem but after associating Luminar with CR2 files, as you suggested, I was able to Edit with Luminar from withing my Capture One 12. When saving the edited file from Luminar, it does not know where the file originated so you have to search for the originating folder. I guess that is becuase Luminar only has an Export function and not Save or Save As. I did have to refresh Capture One for the edited TIFF to show too.
