Please submit a support request if you are experiencing issues related to lost masks. And consider the following:

    - Are these images being edited in a session or catalog?
    - Where are these images stored on your computer?
    - Have you used previous versions, such as Capture One 20 build 13.0.4 or Capture One 12 build 12.1.5?
    - If so, did you upgrade the document when moving to Capture One 20 or start anew?

I realise that's a fair bit, but we really appreciate any extra information on this.

Indeed, the same also applies to any bug like behaviour. But we would like to prevent adjustments being lost on images.

... and it keeps not allowing me to change the brush size with the bracket keys. I have to call the brush context menu to change the size.

This sounds like a good example of a support case. Export your image and make sure to pack it as EIP so that your adjustments are included and send it along with your case.

Have you considered that you may have created a perpetual loop of selection that makes it impossible for the software to resolve your intention? Or at least to attempt to do so in a timely fashion.

Can I ask what the use case is?

Exact same issue here as the OP, spent several hours working on an image removing people and cars from a complicated background using a combination of heal and clone and experienced numerous issues...

Increase and decrease brush size keyboard shortcuts stop working, the only way to resolve is to right-click and display the brush settings panel and then move the cursor off the panel (no need to adjust any of the sliders) and then the keyboard shortcuts start working again. This affects all and sometimes only some brushes.

Masks fail to load resulting in hours of lost work, there is a .comask file in the settings folder but I'm not aware of any way to reload it so it makes the software a little unreliable for professional work.

After working on an image for a length of time the viewer window image appears blurred and fails to refresh at its full resolution. Clicking on another image in the browser makes no difference, the only way to resolve is to quit C1 and relaunch.

Clone brush fails to paint sometimes, again, no pattern for this, it just happens intermittently, sometiems it works as expected, other times it simply stops working.

Display heal and clone arrows keyboard shortcut fails to stick. It works for a brief length of time then suddenly stops working and the keyboard shortcut set vanishes in the Edit Keyboard Shortcuts panel. Once reset it works briefly and then vanishes again.

I’ve experienced several instances of heal source points appearing on an image that I did not create. The heal points appear in a completely different area of the image and are in no way related to the areas I applied the healing brush to, e.g., I was healing areas of green grass, but non related healing points appeared in the blue sky of the image pointing to blue sky healing areas which I didn’t create.

I’m also experiencing the occasional issue where a heal and/or clone mask is being created on a different layer to the heal or clone layer it was drawn on and the layer selected in the layers panel. This results in having to delete the mask created from the affected layer to allow the heal/clone to be applied correctly on the respective heal/clone layer.

I’ve also experienced an issue when trying to delete individual heal/clone source points. Selecting a single source point so that it and only it, appears orange and then clicking the backspace key on the keyboard deletes ‘ALL’ the source points on the image and as a result also deletes the respective heal/clone layer in the layers panel.

I experienced almost every one of the problems that Simon mentions. He did a better job of enumerating all of them. These problems really give me the impression that any test cases involved only a limited number of uses of the new heal and clone tools. With more extensive use of them these problems appear. Hopefully C1 testers will undertake some more in depth and extensive tests to track this down and fix it.

    Replying to Jack's 'Official Comment'

Please submit a support request if you are experiencing issues related to lost masks. Case #38579

    And consider the following:

    - Are these images being edited in a session or catalog? - In my case a session
    - Where are these images stored on your computer? - Internal 1Tb SSD
    - Have you used previous versions, such as Capture One 20 build 13.0.4 or Capture One 12 build 12.1.5? - C1 13.0.4, C1 11
    - If so, did you upgrade the document when moving to Capture One 20 or start anew? - Updated the Engine to C1 20

I realise that's a fair bit, but we really appreciate any extra information on this.

I would suggest the fact that numerous people are experiencing the same/similar issues on different setups and these issues appear unique to the latest release 13.1.0.72 suggests numerous bugs. It is a major issue when the masks fail to load after spending a significant length of time editing an image as all the edits are then lost with no way to recover them, this also becomes an issue when working with a client because the current release can't be relied on.

Indeed, the same also applies to any bug like behaviour. But we would like to prevent adjustments being lost on images.
