Keyboard shortcut for temporarily disabling the tool last used
LoggedThe latest version of C1 (V20) adds a before/after comparison tool.
I find it useless as it always compares against the original state of the image. Recent subtle changes will always get drowned by the major changes (e.g., exposure, contrast, saturation, etc.) one applied as the first steps.
One improvement over the old "temporary reset" approach, however, is that there is no longer a need to use the mouse for "Alt"/"Option"-clicking the reset arrow.
It would be great if that improvement could be carried over to temporarily resetting single tools. Currently, one has to use the mouse to temporarily disable a tool. It would be great if there were a keyboard shortcut to disable the tool last used (similar to the shortcut that deactivates the selected layer).
While "Undo" could enable the tool again, it would be ideal if there were a counterpart functionality to enable the last tool used again (also available via keyboard shortcut).
Note that "undoing" the last edit is not a proper replacement for the suggested feature because one would just undo the latest tweak, as opposed to fully disabling the tool one last used.

Hi,
Thank you for your post.
You can use the combination of shortcuts Ctrl+Z to undo the last edit and then Ctrl+Y to get back to the settings you applied in that tool just before the undo command.
Thanks,
Lily

Hi Lily,
thanks for your response, but "Undo" and "Redo" don't accomplish what I want.
1. If one tweaks a tool parameter and then undoes that change (to a previously changed value), it is not the same as resetting the parameter it to its original value.
2. Many tools have multiple adjustments. Undoing one these adjustments does not reset the other adjustments.
In both cases changes to the tool parameters may go back in time quite a bit and may not be available for undoing anymore (also not helped by the fact that undoing is not available on a per-image basis, so even if the original state of the tool is still in the undo-queue, it is often not accessible without undoing changes to other images that occurred in the meantime). I'd still like to see what the tool overall contributes overall and hence want to temporarily reset it.
In short, the temporary tool reset function (Alt-click on the tool reset icon) has a useful function (independently of undoing) and I'd like to access it via a keyboard shortcut.
Since there are many tools which could potentially be reset via a keyboard shortcut, I'm suggesting that the tool last used (i.e., with a changed parameter) is the one that will be temporarily reset.0 -
Hi,
this request was not "answered".
I'd be happy to learn about existing solutions or workarounds (using the keyboard, not the mouse) but since I'm rather sure they don't exist, I'd like this feature request to forwarded, please.
